BGO array
BGO crystal can be fabricated into array configurations based on request, gap between each pixel is generally set at 0.1 mm, while the Barium Sulfate((BaSO4) was used as separator with excellent reflection, by which the photons, excited by gamma rays, can hardly across it into the neighboring pixel, ensure the minimized cross-talk.
Main BGO array design parameters:
Pixel size: The X and Y dimensions of each BGO pixel
Separator/reflector type and thickness: The type of reflector between the BGO pixel and its overall thickness(Gap, G)
Pitch: The distance between the center of one element to the center of an adjacent element, X+G or Y+G
Radiation thickness: This is the Z dimension and specifies the thickness of the array in the direction of incoming radiation
Back reflector thickness: Usually a white reflector is applied to the radiation entrance side of the array to reflect the light
back into the pixel so it can be directed to the photodetector
