LYSO(ce) crystal was fabricated into matrix configurations used in Positron Emission Tomography(PET), PET insert simultaneous PET/MR facilities, included the whole body, small animals and specific organ like brain, thyroid and breast. We design and develop pixelated LYSO(ce) crystal in regular single layer array, or dual layers with 1/2 pixel offset, the pixel can be small as 0.5 mm x 0.5 mm even lower depending on the required thickness of material, the reflector between each pixel is the Barium Sulfate(BaSO4), the Vikuiti Enhanced Specular Reflector(ESR, 3M) and Titanium Dioxide(TiO2) or others based on request.


Main LYSO array design parameters:

  1. Pixel size: The X and Y dimensions of each LYSO pixel

  2. Separator/reflector type and thickness: The type of reflector between the LYSO pixel and its overall thickness(Gap, G)

  3. Pitch: The distance between the center of one element to the center of an adjacent element, X+G or Y+G

  4. Radiation thickness: This is the Z dimension and specifies the thickness of the array in the direction of incoming radiation

  5. Back reflector thickness: Usually a white reflector is applied to the radiation entrance side of the array to reflect the light back into the pixel so it can be directed to the photodetector
